Copy Editing Explained
Although you may think copyediting and proofreading are the same, this is not so in the world of professional writing and editing.
Copyediting is that task of checking written material for errors involving spelling, grammar, punctuation, and styles, etc. Copyediting is usually performed before the proofreading is done. Sometimes, a copy editor does a revision.
He or she may check for wordiness, jargons, and transition issues, and make sure the content relates to the title of the material. In some cases, the copy editor may do a rewrite, but this may depend on if the client requests it.
